Meet the Global Education Fund Interns!

Global Education Fund is based in Boulder, Colorado - home to the University of Colorado as well as hundreds of start ups and tech companies alike. Perhaps lesser known but not forgotten, it’s also home to great nonprofits making a difference around the world. Nonprofits like Global Education Fund. And its full of young individuals hungry for change, full of ideas and ready to make an impact.

Global Education Fund is excited to welcome three new interns to our team! Two of whom are seniors at CU Boulder and one who is a recent graduate of Tufts University, just outside of Boston Massachusetts.  Meet Sarah, Stephanie and Audrey!

- Meet Stephanie -

“Hi my name is Stephanie Meyers, I’m going into my senior year at the University of Colorado Boulder as an international affairs major.  I was born and raised in Denver Colorado and have always had a passion for foreign affairs and global issues. In the past I’ve interned at Global Livingston Institute, working on their annual Women’s Conference in Uganda. I was also a young professional shadow at Public International Law and Policy Group, a global pro bono law firm in Washington D.C where I assisted the associates on their works, mainly on their projects in Syria and Ukraine. I am very excited to be working with Global Education Fund and to learn more about the non-profit world.”

- Meet Sarah -

“My name is Sarah Meyers, I was born in Denver Colorado and I'm currently a senior at University of Colorado Boulder. I'm majoring in international affairs with an area of concentration in Africa and the Middle East.  Previously, I've worked with Global Livingston Institute as an intern in Uganda during their women's conference, where I was apart of the team that wrote the newsletter summarizing the conversations that took place during the conference. I have also worked at Public Law and Policy Group as a young professional where I learned more about international law and conflict resolution. I am passionate about international development and human rights around the world, and am excited to be working with Global Education Fund.”

Sarah and Stephanie are twins. Identical. And, they are both extremely motivated and passionate about international affairs. Both have impressive resumes and a strong understanding of sustainable global development. And, talk about working well together; Sarah and Stephanie started less than one month ago with GEF and have hit the ground running; building out an extensive calendar of community events and corporate sponsors for the 2016 year.

- Meet Audrey –

“My name is Audrey Gould, a 2016 graduate from Tufts University just outside of Boston, Massachusetts. Raised in Western Massachusetts, the mountains, the sun, and the active and passionate Boulder community brought me here post-graduation. As a double major in International Relations, with a concentration in International Development Economics, and Spanish, I plan to go forward building cross-cultural relationships and working to improve the lives of the world's vulnerable and marginalized groups. Previously, I have interned at Boston City Hall, where I organized events to facilitate community integration of Boston's immigrant population. I am also part of a team currently fundraising to build a nursing school in Trinidad, Honduras. In January I will be heading south to Colombia where I will spend a year teaching English, but in the meantime I am thrilled to be working with Global Education Fund!”

After graduation, Audrey made the cross country move to Boulder to join our small team. She arrived about a week ago and has jumped head first into all of our program information, learning the ins and outs of our partners on the ground to help with outreach, fundraising, Spanish translation and grant-management.

We’re so excited to have all three of these wonderful and motivated interns!

If you’re looking to get involved with Global Education Fund, for a more long-term commitment, why not apply to be a GEF intern. Although we’re not hiring at this time, check back later in 2016 for new opportunities in 2017.
