Ndunge could not attend school because her parents could not afford the school fees. When her brother became employed, he began paying for her school fees but he lost his job and therefore the money to pay for her school fees. Ndunge was in the same situation, she could not afford school fees, before receiving assistance from GEF.

Hopes and dreams: to be a doctor, to treat who are sick and help the poor

“I work hard in school to become an important person in future to the community by helping them especially the needy”

“I deserve a GEF scholarship because my mum is not able to pay for my school fees and she has problems at home providing food for my brothers and sisters. They also want to learn and my mum cannot afford the school fees for them. I really need your assistance so that I can continue with my studies”

“I would like to work hard so as to improve the living standards in our family, community, and in the country”

“I would like to be an important person in the future. I am working hard to be a doctor. I am interested in becoming a doctor because many people in the community have suffered due to many diseases. I will help them and build hospitals”

“There are many problems at home which make me think of my mother. I do read novels which makes me not to think anymore about my problems”

“Specific ways in which I can improve my community now and in the future are: building hospitals in the area, improving infrastructure by constructing roads, building schools for the orphans, and helping the needy in terms of food, shelter, clothes etc.”
