Liz Berry, Executive Director: Liz has worked with Global Education since 2003 as a volunteer, member of the Board of Directors and as the Program Director. Prior to GEF, Liz worked as a Director for New American Schools, an education reform non-profit and for various international consulting firms. She received a B.A. from Williams College and an M.B.A. from Yale University.
Suzanne Thomson, Administrative and Program Manager: Suzanne joined Global Education Fund in February 2008. She has a range of experience working for nonprofit organizations and businesses. After graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill with a BA in history, she worked and volunteered for several nonprofits in Washington, DC before moving to Colorado. Her travels have taken her to Latin America, Europe, Japan and Tanzania.
Fred Afwai, GEF Kenya Director: Fred joined the staff of GEF in 2007 to establish and oversee GEF projects in Kenya. Afwai is also the founder and Pastor of the Candlelight Church, outside of Nairobi, Kenya. He is a community leader, with strong ties to a wide range of schools, orphanages and community organizations. He received a degree from Common Ground Theological Institute.
