I was a twenty-two year old college graduate, unexpectedly thrust into my first community development job before I developed a change-makers mentality. Here was a 16-year old girl, who despite all the obstacles she faced in her personal life, was committed to improving her community. She is exemplifying the qualities of what it means to be a leader.
At GEF, we believe in learning communities, critical self-reflection and the power of reading. In fact, our first programs involved book deliveries and the establishment of libraries. We seek out and share all we can learn about education – globally, locally, for the most marginalized. Check out what we’ve gathered and send us whatever you think might add to the conversation.
