Programs Overview

Global Education Fund supports early-stage education entrepreneurs testing locally relevant approaches to quality education. We invest in smaller, evolving efforts that have not yet matured but have the potential to create lasting change.

In Kenya, India and Guatemala.

We identify and work with local educators and their organizations in these high need countries focusing on marginalized children living in poverty.

With multi-year grants and support.

We provide multi-year grants and organizational support. We work with our partners to measure the impact of these approaches and promote the exchange of ideas between our grantee partners across geographic borders to leverage learning.

Focused on quality education.

By this we mean – the acquisition of knowledge and skills that give young people the best possible start in life. This includes formal academics as well as values and attitudes that inspire confident, empowered citizens who are more likely to give back to their community and advocate for themselves and others.

As examples, we invest in experiential learning curriculum for students, youth leadership, development and transition to livelihoods, and inter-generational support - connecting family, community and cultures to learning.

Kenya SmallGlobal Education Fund partners support post-primary learning and youth and leadership development in urban slum areas. Global Education Fund is particularly interested in approaches to building skills, knowledge and understanding of youth in areas such as financial literacy, gender dynamics, entrepreneurship, community service, and livelihoods because they fill gaps and are complementary to the formal academics offered in secondary schools.

India SmallGlobal Education Fund partners with local educators in both rural and urban areas. We support innovative curriculum and educational learning approaches for children living in urban slums or in remote rural areas in selected areas (Karnataka, Gujarat, Delhi). Our partners focus particularly on some of the most marginalized children, including Dalits, girls, working children.

GuatemalaGlobal Education Fund partners with local educators committed to providing quality education for indigenous Mayan and other children living in poverty in remote villages and urban sprawl areas. Initiatives are focused on girls (and other targeted students) staying in and succeeding in school and on learning and mentoring across generations. They also focus on problem-based curricula rooted in local realities, which helps embed skills and competencies students need for their future independence and success. This includes their eventual transition to post secondary learning and gainful livelihoods.
