Anisa and Liz Gips at Anisa’s graduation
“It has been remarkable to watch Anisa over the past four years: building
on the foundation that she gained with GEF in Kenya and continuing to grow
and overcome obstacles with her amazing combination of humility, humor,
tenacity and sheer effort! She is an amazing model for us all and has
certainly done GEF proud!”
~ Liz Gips, GEF Board Member
As a Somali refugee living in Kenya facing significant obstacles, Anisa excelled in school and thrived in the GEF-Kenya leadership program. She is the first in her family to graduate high school and attend college. Through her hard work and the help of GEF-Kenya staff, after graduation she was accepted into the prestigious Zawadi Africa Education program that places students in U.S. colleges. She was accepted to Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania and was given a generous four year scholarship.
Anisa’s journey is extraordinary and she is an exceptional young woman. Please join us in celebrating her success!
