GlobalEducationFund Our Organization

Global Education Fund (GEF) is a nonprofit organization working to see that books get into the hands of some of the most vulnerable children in the world.

Founded in 1998 by anthropologist Eliza Woloson, Global Education Fund listens to the educational needs of the orphanage community first and foremost. As a result, in addition to filling libraries in orphanages with books, Global Education Fund has sent interns to communities with high illiteracy rates, implemented formalized storytelling and reading groups and physically built libraries. Global Education Fund has sent aid to many organizations around the world.

The Global Education Fund focuses on supplying books for orphaned children between the ages of seven and seventeen. Children's books generously donated by publishing and distributing companies allow the Global Education Fund to create literacy centers. To fill the gap between books donated and books needed, the Global Education Fund purchases books at a discount. Once books have been collected at the Global Education Fund headquarters in Boulder, Colorado they are shipped to the orphanages.
